Press release | New staff
Four new team members join the Event, Sales and HR department at AMANO Group
At the end of the year, the AMANO Group recruited four new team members for key positions to continue the business successfully and to ensure further growth. After a calm period due to the pandemic followed by the current strong business growth, the positions 'Director of Conference', 'Director of Events' and 'Director of Sales' were filled at the hotel company to expand the event sector. A new 'Director of Human Resources' was recruited for the challenging area of HR.
Tina Walter will support the hotel group in the area of conferences and meetings. As the 'Director of Conference', she will primarily be responsible for the conference business. The skilled hotel specialist has previously worked in similar roles for other large hotels in Berlin, for catering companies and for a political event organisation. Furthermore, she notices a change in the industry: "Companies now make decisions much more at short notice, which gives us little time for planning. It is therefore important that we act quickly."
By hiring a 'Director of Conference' and a 'Director of Events', the AMANO Group's conference and event business will be separated for the first time to strategically highlight the hotel group's strengths in both areas. While Tina Walter focuses on the conference business, Franz Tischer concentrates in particular at evening events of the AMANO brand, which is known for its lively gastronomy concepts. As 'Director of Events', he covers the complete planning and organisation of corporate and leisure events at the AMANO Group. He gained experience as F&B Manager at the Bundespressestand, as Operation & Sales Manager at Berlin's Club Asphalt and most recently as Deputy General Manager at the nightclub Bricks. He will help to build up a high-performance team for the event area of the hotel group, adapt structures in consideration of the company philosophy and plan clear and uniform information for customer communication in his area of responsibility.
With Eva Theissen, the AMANO Group was able to hire a new strong 'Director of Sales'. Eva Theissen is the hotel group's new strategic sales leader with extensive experience in the international and global sales environment. With immediate effect, she is responsible for the track record in developing and implementing sales and MICE strategies for the AMANO Group. She has already gained experience at large hotel chains, such as IHG and the American Morgans Hotel Group. From 2020, she used the pandemic-related business break to complete her Master of Business Administration (MBA) at the UNIVERSITY of BRADFORD with a focus on digital marketing, branding & strategy with best grades. Her strengths include identifying untapped markets and business opportunities to achieve ambitious sales goals. She describes herself as a solid networker with a natural drive to succeed.
One of the biggest challenges in the hotel and restaurant industry at the moment is finding and retaining staff. The AMANO Group is therefore pleased to gain strong support in the area of 'Human Resources' with Ingeborg Lachmann. As Director of Human Resources, she is primarily responsible for recruiting, an area in which she has gained international experience. She also looks after the 400 existing employees, for whom the new AMANO CARES programme has just been launched and it provides them with many benefits, focused primarily on health and well-being.
Managing Director Ariel Schiff is pleased about the new support for the AMANO Group. "For us as an expanding hotel group, it is becoming increasingly important to delineate and centrally manage the individual departments as we grow. With the new appointment, we have now found particularly qualified managers at director levels. We are pleased that the AMANO Group can continue to grow in this way. We have many plans for 2023 and beyond!"
The AMANO Group is a Berlin-based hotel company that currently owns eleven hotels, including eight in Berlin, one in Düsseldorf, one in Munich and one in London. A hotel project in Leipzig is under construction, and three more hotels are planned in Hamburg and Munich. Founded in 2009 by the Süsskind, Schiff and Rokeach families, the AMANO Group aims to design hotels that are integrated into the cultural life of the city. Therefore, all hotels follow the standard concept of offering sophisticated urban living in a central location at a fair price. This includes interior design and a level of service that far exceeds the three-star standard. With trend-setting gastronomy concepts such as restaurants, bars and a club as well as several roof terraces, the AMANO Group creates a lively exchange between the city and the hotel.
